Carriers collect food for our community

Mail carriers in Farmville, Rice and Prospect recently collected over 4,200 pounds of food during the nationwide 24th annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive — the largest one-day food drive in America. The amount of food collected by carriers from postal customers was double the amount from previous years, according to Farmville Post Office Officer in Charge Becky Keplinger. The donated food will go to the FACES Food Pantry, according to Keplinger. We commend the carriers and the postal customers for being so generous in donating and collecting the food, which will go toward a needy population of our community.
