Fuqua School’s fourth and fifth-grade classes recently hosted Dr. Barbie Buckner, a NASA STEM educator. Buckner shared information about the “STEM on Station” program.

“This program is an educational activity that leverages the International Space Station to engage students and educators in NASA’s missions and encourage students to study and pursue science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) interests,” Bruckner said.

Students learned about the ratios of earth to the moon and neighboring planets, the One-Year Mission on the International Space Station and what life is like as an astronaut in space.  At the conclusion of Buckner’s presentation, she recorded the students in a group Twitter video wishing One-Year Mission Astronaut Scott Kelly and Russian cosmonaut Mikhail Kornienko — all the way from Farmville.
