PRINCE EDWARD — No illegal drugs were found in a mid-morning unannounced search for illegal substances at Prince Edward High School on Wednesday.

“Periodically we bring K-9s in to check for contraband,” said Maj. David Wilmoth with the Prince Edward Sheriff’s Office. “We do it throughout the year. We did it today, and they didn’t find anything.”

Division Superintendent Dr. David Smith said the search began shortly after 10 a.m.

“At the moment there is a search by the K-9 … unit with law enforcement. It was an unannounced search this morning at the high school. Those searches are typically unannounced, so, of course, when they’re there, we fully comply,” he said.

Smith called the search routine.
