The Prince Edward County Board of Supervisors recently recognized the Farmville Jaycees in recognition of their work in the community and 75th anniversary. Founded in 1940, the Jaycees were first established as the Farmville Junior Chamber of Commerce. The Jaycees organized polio vaccination clinics in the 1960s, helped establish the Prince Edward Volunteer Rescue Squad, and started and sustained the Farmville Christmas Parade and First Fridays. Pictured are, from left, Jerry Townsend, Bob Timmons, Jaycees President Cam Patterson, Pattie Cooper-Jones, Jaycees Treasurer Jeff Gore and Howard Simpson. We commend the Farmville Jaycees and congratulate them on 75 years of hard work. Send ‘Way To Go’ photos with names and a description to waytogo@farmvilleherald.com.
