FARMVILLE — The Farmville Jaycees have announced that the Prince Edward Volunteer Rescue Squad (PEVRS) will serve as the grand marshal for the 2015 Farmville Christmas Parade.

“In recent memory this is the first times that an organization has been selected for this honor,” said Jaycees President Cameron Patterson. “The Farmville Jaycees’ relationship with the [PEVRS] has been a special one over the years with the Farmville Jaycees helping found the organization.”

He said in choosing the rescue squad, the Jaycees’ wanted to recognize the members “for their continued service to our community. We look forward to their involvement in the parade including some of the chartered members.”

“As the Farmville Jaycees close the 2015 year in celebration of 75 years of service to the community,” Patterson said, “we cannot think of a better way to … recognize an organization whose founding ranks highly as one of our proudest achievements on behalf of our local community.”

The parade will be held Sunday, Dec. 6, at 2 p.m. in downtown Farmville.
