FARMVILLE — The Farmville Town Council will hold three public hearings on Thursday, Nov. 12.

The town council and the planning commission will hold a joint hearing to gather public comment on two separate requests at 6:30 p.m. in the council chambers in the Town Hall at 116 North Main Street.

The town council and planning commission are seeking comment on a rezoning request from Michael Papandrea for the purpose of rezoning the vacant property on Layne St. for a duplex. The proposal is to rezone one parcel and part of another to residential from business.

Public comment will also be received on a separate zoning amendment request from Russell Harper regarding an amendment of the zoning ordinance in a business B-4 zone.

Harper is requesting to add the following uses: “apartment, condominium and townhouse development. Overall density shall not exceed ten (10) dwelling units per acre. A conditional use permit shall be required.”

The town council will hold a public hearing at 7 p.m. to gather public comment on an amendment and appropriation to the fiscal year 2015-16 town operating budget.

The town council has proposed an amendment of over $5 million to the current $18.5 million budget.

According to the town, “the reason for the amendment is to be able to utilize grant funds that were awarded or pending in 2014-15 and not carried over the FY 2015-16 town budget.”
