The Old Dominion Historical Fire Society (ODHFS) will display antique firefighting equipment at Wilck’s Lake Island Park, Farmville, on Sept. 26 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.; the event is free.

This will be the second consecutive year for the display of antique equipment that will come from across the Commonwealth.  According to Gary Hoermen, Central Region director for ODHFS and organizer of the event, “Our muster in Farmville this year promises to be one of the largest displays of antique fire equipment in this part of Virginia.  Last year’s event brought out nearly two dozen antiques, and we are expecting more units this year.”

Many of the motorized fire engines may actually pump water from the lake again this year.  Members of ODHFS will be on hand to answer questions and provide the public with the opportunity to see these antiques and learn the role each has played in fire service history.
