PEFYA Angels soar

Over the past week the Farmville area was proudly represented at the Angels X-Play World Series by the Prince Edward-Farmville Youth Association’s (PEFYA) Angels team. These girls were the first PEFYA softball team to ever advance to the World Series.

Although they were eliminated on Monday, PEFYA won two games in the tournament, making history for the organization.

We applaud the team for advancing in the tournament and giving our area even more to be proud of. These girls worked hard in practices to prepare for All-Star games and never lost sight of their goals.

Most importantly, the Angels kept a positive attitude and their faith and stuck together throughout their season, which led them to the World Series.

Not only do these girls deserve credit for their recent achievements, so do their fans and support systems.

Parents, coaches, friends and fans all put in effort to help get PEFYA to the World Series. Families and friends made arrangements for the girls to participate in the tournament, while fans came out to fundraisers to help raise money for the team. Coaches volunteered their last few summer days to guide the team while playing in the World Series as well.

Our area should be thankful that we have a young generation that is willing to persevere and put Farmville on the map in a positive way. To the PEFYA Angels — the future leaders of this community — we say thank you and keep your eye on the ball.
