a Bear Hound Training Season in

Charlotte County

The Virginia Board of Game and Inland Fisheries, pursuant to §§ 29.1-103, 29.1-501, and 29.1-502 of the Code of Virginia, has proposed the below amendments to the Commonwealth’s regulations. Comments are solicited and should be submitted online at http://www.dgif.virginia.gov/. Comments also may be: made in person at the August 20, 2015 meeting of the Board, 9:00 AM at 7870 Villa Park Drive, Suite 400, Henrico, Virginia 23228; postal-mailed to the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, Attn: Policy Analyst and Regulatory Coordinator, P.O. Box 90778, Henrico, Virginia 23228-0778; or emailed to regcomments@dgif.virginia.gov. Comments must be in writing and accompanied by the name, ad-dress and telephone number of the party offering them. Comments submitted other than at the August 20 meeting must be received no later than 5:00 PM Au-gust 5, 2015. After hearing public comment on the proposed amendments at the August 20, 2015 Board meeting, the Board anticipates adopting final regulation amendments. For additional information see http://www.dgif.virginia.gov/. The following is a summary of the Board’s proposed regulation amendment.  The proposal is to:

Regulation section 4VAC15-50-120 Game: Bear.  Bear Hound Training Season. Add Charlotte County to the list of counties that will have a bear hound training season from the first Saturday in September through the last Saturday in September, both dates inclusive. During this season, it is lawful to chase bears with dogs for training purposes without capturing or taking.
