CUMBERLAND CO., Aug. 24 – Charles Roland Richardson, 70, of Cumberland County, passed away at his home Sunday, August 22, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on December 4, 1939, in Prince Edward County to the late Raymond and Gertrude Purvis Richardson. He was an Army veteran during the Vietnam Conflict.

Mr. Richardson is survived by his wife, Sheila Jamerson Richardson of Cumberland; two daughters, Sherrill Richardson of Farmville and Cynthia Richardson; two sons, Christopher Roland Richardson and Charles Ryan Richardson, all of Cumberland; brother, Allen Richardson of Spotsylvania; and two grandsons, Cole Jamerson of Cumberland and Kevin Huddleston of Farmville.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at the Dunkum Funeral Home at 2 p.m., with interment in the Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m.
