Pauline Neathery, 88 Held July 30

JULY 30 – Pauline Moore Neathery, 88, passed on to await the calling of her Savior on Monday, July 27, 2009. The wife of the late H.W. “Buck” Neathery, she was born February 15, 1921 to Robert Lee and Virgie Adeline Loftis Moore in Lunenburg County. Pauline was a member of Kenbridge Christian Church and a retired seam-stress of Crewe Garment Co.

She was the devoted mother of Phyllis Simpson and husband, James of Blackstone; Donnie Neathery of Rice; and Rachel Runion and husband, Jerry of Farmville. She was also the beloved granny of Jim Simpson of Kenbridge, Cheryl Gamble of Stuttgart, Germany; Ward Runion and Angie Landis, both of Rice. Nine great-grandchildren that will miss her dearly are Heather and Lindsey Simpson; Cait, Emmy, and Lily Gamble; Danielle Rundstrom and Eric Mason; Kohen and Macon Landis; two great-great-grandchildren, Hannah and Autumn Rundstrom; four sisters; and was preceded in death by five brothers.

Always quick to give of herself, Pauline will be remembered for her strong spirit, patience, generosity and perseverance during difficult times. She showed her faith through her life of forgiveness, honesty, sacrifice, and hard work. She was humble and always gave unconditional love. Pauline's life mirrored 1 John 3:18, “Let us love, not in word of speech, but in truth and action.”

Funeral services were held Thursday (today) in the chapel of Shorter Funeral Home, with interment in Trinity Memorial Gardens, Rice.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to: The American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6359, Glen Allen, VA 23058-6359; Blackstone Baptist Church Building Fund, 407 South Main Street, Blackstone, VA 23824, or Pisgah Baptist Church Elevator Fund, Route 1, Rice, VA 23966.
