AUGUST 5 – Eva Mottley Smith, 88, passed away peace-fully at home surrounded by family on Monday, August 2, 2010. She was preceded in death by her husband, Asa B. Smith Jr., her parents, Donna S. and Edward Clarence Mottley Sr., and two brothers, Joe and Alfred Mottley.

She had three children, Harold (Butch) LeGrand Sr. (Pearlie), Nancy L. Buenger (Tommy), and Asa Burton Smith III (Connie); eight grandchildren, James, Junior, David, Asa, Brian, Andrew, Angela, and Laura; three great-grandchildren, Jake, Jesse and Aaron; three brothers, Edward (Judy) of Farmville, Dale (Shirley) and John (Nancy) of Prospect; two sisters, Lorine Good of Amelia and Arlene Johnson (Maynard) of New Canton; and one special friend, Aileen Crowder.

Mrs. Smith was a member of Farmville Baptist Church.

Her family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at Doyne-Burger-Davis Funeral Home, where a funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, with burial in Westview Cemetery in Farmville.

Memorial gifts may be made to Farmville Fire Department, Randolph Fire Department, and Prince Edward Rescue Squad.
