RICE, Aug. 10 – George “Biffy” “Junior” Robert Smith Jr., 80, of Rice, passed away in Centra Southside Community Hospital on August 8, 2010. He was born June 28, 1930.

Mr. Smith was retired from the Norfolk & Western Railroad. He attended VPI (VA Tech) and was a member of the National Guard. He dearly loved his family, horses, and country lanes.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents, George Robert Smith and Lucy Traylor Smith; two sisters, Essie Scarborough and Barbara Maxey; and his former wife, Marie Spence Smith. He is survived by two sons, Keith Smith of Windsor and Perry Smith of Farmville; grandchildren, Jessie Smith, Clay Smith, Jaime Smith and Jordan Smith; a special nephew and caretakers, Phil and Sandi Scarborough; nephews, George Scarborough, Herbert Maxey and Bobby Maxey (Doris); and nieces, Kay Scarborough and Kim Scarborough-Sykes (Mark).

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m., Wednesday, August 11, at the Jamestown Presbyterian Church, Rice.

Cremation Society of Virginia, Richmond, is in charge of arrangements.
