FARMVILLE — Longwood All-Big South selections Sarah Butler and Shiloh McKenzie were named to the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) All-State University Division Women’s Lacrosse Team, the organization announced Wednesday.

Butler, a midfielder from Melbourne, Australia, started all 18 games as a junior and scored 36 goals with 19 assists.

She ranked among the Big South’s top 10 in goals, assists, and draw controls per game.

Also the winner of Longwood’s prestigious Jimmy M. Yarbrough Inspiration Award, Butler is the seventh lacrosse player in Big South history to earn two first team nods.

McKenzie, a defender from Lothian, MD, enjoyed a breakout junior campaign by logging a team-high 27  caused turnovers in 2015.

She added 32 groundballs, the second most of any non-goalkeeper on Longwood’s roster, as well as 39 draw controls and a pair of assists.

McKenzie ended her season on a streak of 13 consecutive games with at least one caused turnover.

Those two Lancers will return to a Longwood team in 2016 that brings back seven starters and 15 letterwinners.
