James England, 85 Co-Founder Of Animal Shelter Dies

WINGINA, March 17 – James C. England, 85, of Wingina, died Saturday, March 14, 2009, at Virginia Baptist Hospital, Lynchburg.

Mr. England was born in 1923, to Walter England and Edna McDowell England, in McDowell County, WV. He served in WWII as a U.S. Marine in the Pacific Forces.

Upon retirement from his career, he and his wife, Janice England established Beath Animal Shelter, a No-Kill refuge for dogs and cats in Dillwyn.

He is survived by his wife, Janice; two daughters, Karen England of Richmond and Connie England of Front Royal, and a daughter-in-law, Sharon Varzaly of Las Vegas, NV; two grandchildren, Jana Schmidt and husband, Mike Schmidt of Pensacola, FL, and Shane Jones of Newport Beach, CA; four great-grandsons, Jamie, Bryson, and Ellis Schmidt of Pensacola, FL, and Aaron Jones of Newport Beach, CA.

Additional family members include stepson, Lanny Jones of Virginia and step-granddaughter, Lori Jones of Maryland.
