December 1 – Gladys Horton Patterson, 86, of Farmville, passed away Friday, November 27, 2009 in Chesterfield.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Paul Patterson and parents, Wyllie Lafayette Horton and Lola Mae Smyth Horton, and is survived by four daughters and their husbands, Nancy and Tommy Payne, Connie and Bubba Dandridge and Janet Patterson all of Powhatan and Doris Hardison of Richmond; two sons, William Paul Patterson Jr. of Raleigh, NC and George L. Patterson and wife, Debra of Farmville; sister, Ruth Asal Southall of Farmville; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a devoted niece, Frances Combs, and many other nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday in the Shorter Funeral Home chapel. Interment followed in Trinity Memorial Gardens.

The Shorter Funeral Home, Farmville, served the family.
