Lucy “Tauty” Schmidt, 87 Rice Native Dies December 6

VIRGINIA BEACH, Dec. 8 – Lucy “Tauty” W. Frank Schmidt, Rice native, passed peacefully on Sunday, December 6, 2009 at Virginia Beach at the age of 87. She was a member of Jamestown Presbyterian Church of Rice.

She was a lover of the great outdoors, an avid gardener, creative seamstress and lingerie manager at Baldwin's Department Store for over 10 yrs. She was a devoted mother, wife, grandmother and friend and will be remembered by all for her happy, cheerful, fun-loving nature.

She is survived by her children, Raymond Frank of Farmville, Gerald Frank of Richmond, Ann Simpson of Chesapeake, and Jane Lina of Virginia Beach; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two husbands, Jim Frank of 35 years and Thomas Schmidt of one and a half years.

The family will receive friends at Shorter Funeral Home on Tuesday (tonight) between 6 and 8 p.m.

Her life will be honored and celebrated with funeral and burial services at Jamestown Presbyterian Church on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
