The Cumberland County Historical Society will hold a meeting on June 14, at 2 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of Payne Memorial United Methodist Church located in Cumberland Courthouse.

Nancy Faxon will be the guest speaker and will tell the story of Peter Francisco, Revolutionary War hero and one time resident of Cumberland County.  Abandoned, as a small child by a sea captain to whom he was indentured at the docks at City Point, Francisco was often called the “Virginia Giant” or the “Giant of the Revolution.”
