Frank “Frankie” Osborn, 64

SEPTEMBER 2 – Frank W. “Frankie” Osborn, 64, of Farmville, died in his sleep on Sunday, August 31, 2008 at Holly Manor Nursing Home in Farmville, following several years of declining health.

He was born October 29, 1943 in Farmville to the late Asa Frank Osborn and Ann Walthall Osborn. He attended and graduated from Prince Edward Academy in 1963. Frank then went on to manage Osborn's Supermarket with his wife Martha Sue from the mid-60's until its closing in 1981.

Frankie was known for his kind nature and his love of hunting, fishing and sports. He was a high school superstar athlete and an avid lover of the outdoors, and was very active for years in the Square Hunt Club.

He is survived by his mother, Ann W. Osborn; three sons, Vince and wife, Dana and their three sons, Clay, Matt and Drew of Farmville, Rick of Raleigh, NC, and Luke of Farmville; a brother, Richard “Shorty” Osborn and wife, Marilyn of Rice, and their sons, Nash and Jim; great-aunts, Reed Gates of Rice, Emily Wilkerson of Richmond, and Edith Stafford of Richmond; as well as many other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, September 3, at 11 a.m. at Farmville United Methodist Church. The Rev. Sylvia Meadows will officiate. Interment will follow at Jamestown Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Rice.

Family will receive friends Tuesday evening (tonight) 7-8:30 p.m. at the Puckett Funeral Home.
