DILLWYN, Sept. 2 – Burton N. Day, 90, of Dillwyn, died Monday, September 1, 2008. He was the widower of Alice Bass Day.

He is survived by a daughter, Rachel Rae Day Pittman and husband, Otis of Surry; two grandchildren, Kenneth Pittman and wife, Wanda of Surry and Deana Pittman and friend, Kara of Waverly; five great-grandchildren, Brandon Eggleston, Britney Pittman, Brianne Pittman, Dena Pittman and Taylor Laxton.

Mr. Day was retired from C.O. Railroad for 37-1/2 years.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 3, at 2 p.m. at the Dunkum Funeral Home, with interment in Union Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight (Tuesday) at the funeral home.
