W. “Buster” Wilkerson, 91 Dies September 22

CREWE, Sept. 24 – William H. “Buster” Wilkerson, 91, of Crewe, passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2009.

He is survived by his wife, Mae Barton Wilkerson; two sons, James Lee Wilkerson and wife, Sally, and Bill Wilkerson Sr. and wife, Ellen; grandchildren, Amy W. Griffin and husband, Steve, Sara W. Andrews and husband, Travis, Bill Wilkerson Jr. and wife, Tonya, and Jayne W. Thomas and husband, Will; great-grandchildren, Ryan Griffin, Ashlyn and Holden Andrews, McKaellen and Rylee Wilkerson, and Ethan and Reid Thomas; siblings, Ray and Junior Lowry, and Iva May Driscoll.

Mr. Wilkerson, a WWII Army Veteran, was a member and trustee of Crewe Baptist Church. He was involved in numerous organizations throughout the years. After WWII, he became involved in the Automobile Business, at one time owning the Ford Dealership in Crewe. In 1964 Buster started Wilkerson Co., an aircraft tire business which quickly became a well-known international business.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m., Thursday (tonight) at the Jennings-McMillian Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Friday at Crewe Baptist Church.
