DILLWYN, Aug. 18 – J. Hamilton “Bone” Harris, 79, of Dillwyn, passed away on Monday, August 17, 2009, at Southside Community Hospital, Farmville. He was born May 6, 1930. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert H. and Therie Newton Harris, and a brother, Alfred M. Harris.

Mr. Harris is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jewel Duncan Harris; son, Craig Hamilton Harris and wife, Shelia; grand-son, Ryan Harris and wife, Melissa; step-granddaughter, Brandi Loveday; step-grandson, Jeremy Witt; three step-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Frances Lester and Christine Thomas both of Dillwyn, Anita French of Cumberland, and Katie Mae Burnette of Florida; brother, John Ernest Harris of Charles City; 14 nieces and nephews, and many loving friends.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Dunkum Funeral Home, with interment in the Rocky Mount United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
