Worthington Flowers, 78 Of Curdsville Dies Good Friday

CURDSVILLE, April 14 – Worthington Cockey Flowers, 78, of Curdsville, Buckingham County, passed away on Good Friday, April 10, 2009 at his home after a year-long illness.

Mr. Flowers was born July 28, 1930, in Harrisburg, PA, the only child of Henrietta Cockey and Arthur Bollinger Flowers. He graduated from St. James School in Hagerstown, MD, and attended Williams College in Massachusetts. Mr. Flowers was the long-time purchasing manager for Jackson Manufacturing Company in Harrisburg, PA. He also resided in Baltimore, MD, and then moved to Curdsville where, for many years, he delivered Meals on Wheels in Buckingham County and was a member of the Curdsville Community Center and the Buckingham-Dillwyn Garden Club.

Mr. Flowers was married to the late Mary Vals. He is survived by his loving wife, Marie Ross Flowers; sons, A. Philip Flowers and wife, Tina, Edward Vals Flowers and wife, Debbie of Harrisburg, PA; daughter, Nancy Pistorio of Towson, MD; grandchildren, Ashley Flowers, Kaitlyn Flowers, Jordan Flowers, Daniel Pistorio and Ryan Pistorio; step-children, William Thomas Ross of Baltimore, MD, Marianne Ross Burroughs and husband, Wilbur Coles, II of Matthews, Timothy Lee Ross and wife, Barbara of Federals-burg, MD; step-children, Meaghan Kathleen Ross, Gavin Padraig Ross, Nathaniel Ross, Marguerite Marie Ross, Wilbur Coles Burroughs III, Catherine Helen Burroughs, Sebastian Ross Burroughs and Caroline Marie Burroughs, and sister-in-law, Helen Keitz of Mathews. He also leaves behind many kind and loving friends.

A mass of Christian burial was celebrated at St. Theresa's Catholic Church in Farmville on Tuesday (today). Interment and a memorial service will be held at Sherwood Episcopal Church Cemetery in Cockeysville, MD, at a later date.

Puckett Funeral Home, Farmville, was in charge of arrangements.
