LeNoir H. Coleman, 89 Retired Educator Dies April 9

APRIL 14 – LeNoir H. Cole-man, 89, of Farmville, died Thursday, April 9, 2009 in Farmville. She was preceded in death by her late husband, T.C. Coleman Jr.

She was born July 13, 1919 in Crewe, the daughter of the late George Clinton Hubbard and the late Ocie Neil Hammock.

Mrs. Coleman was a retired high school teacher, having taught for 31 years in Clarksville, Farmville High School, and Prince Edward Academy. She retired in 1983.

She was a graduate of State Teachers College (now Longwood University), where she also completed graduate courses.

Over the years, Mrs. Coleman was very active in church, school, and community affairs. She was a member of Farmville United Methodist Church, Nora Lancaster Garden Club, past member of the Jr. Woman's Club and Sr. Woman's Club, past president of the Longwood Alumni Chapter, and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was also a member of the American Association of University Women and Delta Kappa Gamma.

Survivors are her daughter, Ann Gail Williams and son-in-law, Gale Williams of Hilton Head Island, SC; grandchildren, Todd Coleman Burkey of Austin, TX and Elizabeth Ashley Burkey of Denver, CO, and niece, Barbara G. Southall of Richmond.

Graveside funeral services were conducted on Monday, April 13, at Westview Cemetery in Farmville.
