CUMBERLAND, Sept. 25 -Edward L. Spain, of Cumberland, left us for his eternal home on Thursday, September 20, 2012. We rejoice in knowing that Mr. Spain, his parents, Linwood and Josie Spain, and his brother, Roy, are now celebrating together in God's presence.

He is survived by his wife, Nell Mitchell Spain; children, Sheryl Foresta and Russell Spain (Darby); five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; brother, Horace Spain (Joni) and three sisters, Thelma Owen (Tommy), Myrtle Crawford and Sallie Wright (Emmett).

The family would like to acknowledge our neighbor and caregiver, Susie Robinson and a special niece, Lou Helms, for faithfully helping to care for Mr. Spain during his long illness. Their support and the support of the team members from Hospice of Virginia, made each day brighter for him, and his gratitude showed in the smile on his face at the mention of your names. David, the acres of cut grass are a testament to your love.
