AUGUST 28 – Longtime area resident James W. Watson Sr. passed away in his home over the weekend. Born in Rice in 1930, he served in the Air Force, where he met his beloved wife Dorothy. After the Air Force, they moved to Farmville where he worked for the local telephone company, rising from the position of lineman to that of supervisory engineer.

He is survived by a son, Bill; daughter, Sue and husband Jim; son, Doug, and youngest son, Greg and wife, Cindy; as well as five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held in the Chapel of Puckett Funeral Home on Thursday, August 30, at 10 a.m. with interment to follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Rice.
