CUMBERLAND, June 3 -Clifton E. Garris, 71, of Cumberland, passed away Friday, May 30, 2008. He was the son of the late Pauline Garris Ayers and Coy C. Garris, and stepfather, Linwood Ayers.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Smith Garris; daughter, Terri G. Deel and husband, Darrell; sons, Coy C. Garris, Michael A. Garris and wife, Carla, and Shawn A. Garris and wife, April; three step-children, Ricky LeSueur and wife, Cathy, Terry W. LeSueur, and Debbie L. McMillian; two sisters, Ramona G. Lang and Margaret Garris; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mr. Garris worked in the sign business since 1954 for various sign companies until he started his own company, Cliff's Signs Service in 1981.

Services were held at Dunkum Funeral Home on Monday with interment at Center Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Cumberland.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cumberland Volunteer Rescue Squad or the American Cancer Society.
