June 7 – “Smiles never go up in price or down in value.”

The Prospect Historical Society will be giving away a 32inch flat screen TV on July 3. The proceeds will go to the projects they are working on at this time. Members of the Society have tickets for sale or you may get your ticket(s) at Merk's Place.

The 44th Penick reunion was held June 2 at the Gee-Price Building on the campus of Fuqua School. Family members came from near and far to enjoy the fellowship of family, the good food, family stories, and the swimming. It was a good day for those who came.

Mr. and Mrs. Don Meadows traveled to Richmond May 31 doing some shopping and visiting Mr. and Mrs. Andy Shotwell and children Josh, Zack and Kate.

A Bridal Picnic was held on Saturday at the Prospect Fire House honoring Cindy Foster and Ian Scheu. The Bridal Picnic was hosted by aunts and uncles of Cindy's, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Campbell and Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Molnor and cousin Meredith Campbell for family members. Cindy and Ian received many nice gifts.

Mrs. Emma Sharpe and son Jeffrey visited with her mother, Mrs. Pat Smith, on Friday.

Mrs. Pat Smith attended a bridal luncheon held in honor of Hannah DeRegibus on Saturday.

Peggy Kelsey was a guest at a luncheon and garden tour at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Randolph Lanfond of Fork Union recently.

The Prospect Happy Hats enjoyed a trip to Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden in Richmond May 30. Those enjoying the trip were Mrs. Ann Norton, Mrs. Betty Meadows and Mrs. Margaret Stockton. Ed Norton accompanied the ladies.

On Sunday evening Brianna, Charles and Christina Smith of Keysville and Jeffrey Sharpe of Arvonia spent the night with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Smith. Early Monday morning they went to Virginia Beach for the day. They spent the morning at the beach, had lunch at a seafood restaurant and toured the Nauticus museum in the afternoon.

Mr. and Mrs. Mike Shumaker celebrated their wedding anniversary June 4 with family.

Sympathy is extended to the family of Keith Bales of Hampton. He was the son of Mildred Simpson Bales and the grandson of the late Dick and Visa Simpson.

Mr. and Mrs. Scott Friend were joined by Mr. and Mrs. Don Meadows and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Stockton for breakfast at County Cookin' on Monday.

Family, friends and neighbors wish a speedy recovery for those who are sick at this time; Mrs. Ida S. LeWarne, Lester Goin, and Johnnie Campbell.
