GEORGIA, May 15 – Edith C. Coates, 96, formerly of Farmville, passed away Sunday, May 13, 2012 at Southland Nursing Home, Peachtree City, GA. She was born May 24, 1915 in Unicoi County, Tennessee. She was the widow of James W. Coates and was also preceded in death by a son, James Ferrell Coates.

She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Joan S. Coates; grandchildren, Beverly Coates of Tyrone, GA and David Coates and wife, Elizabeth of Warner Robins, GA; great-grandchildren, Jennifer C. Holley and husband, Dallas of Warner Robins, GA, Harmony Coates of Atlanta, GA, and Felicia Coates of Warner Robins, GA; and great-great-grandchildren, Savannah Holley and Carlie Beth Holley.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 17, at Worsham Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
