RICE, May 15 – John Luther Chenault, 65, of Rice went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 11, 2012. He loved operating equipment and was the owner and operator of John's Excavating for over 30 years. He enjoyed fishing, golf and was a Jeff Gordon fan. He also enjoyed watching the kids play ball.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Jamerson Chenault; children, John L. Chenault Jr., Michael Chenault, and Michelle Chenault all of Richmond, and Cody Chenault of Crewe; step-children, Robin Davis (Money) of Rice, Frankie Jamerson (Missy) of Cumberland, Alissa Harland of Salem, and Heather Jamerson and Jacob Jamerson both of Rice; ten grandchildren and other special people in his life, Danny, Dan, Angie, Ashley, Chippy and his faithful pet Sami. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther H. and Norma I. Chenault, brother, William, sister, Martha and son, Herbert Shawn.

A memorial service was conducted Monday, May 14, at the Shorter Funeral Home.
