August 12 – “A different world cannot be built by indifferent people.” Mr. and Mrs. Charles (Jennifer) Southall celebrated their twenty-second wedding anniversary Aug. 8. May you have many more.

Special prayers are offered for all the students going back to elementary, high school, college and universities. The folks on Hardtimes Road are especially remembering Jordan Bynum a 2010 graduate of Prince Edward County High School; he will soon be leaving for Lee University in Tennessee.

Mr. and Mrs. John (Shirley) Fulcher attended the benefit held at the Toga Fire Department on Saturday. The benefit was to help some area people in need.

Mrs. Lois Johnson had a delightful visit with Mrs. Hilda Allen on Sunday afternoon.

Mr. and Mrs. Ray Noblin were delighted with a visit on Thursday and Friday from their son and his family, David and Paula Noblin, Brady and Allie from Chesapeake.

The descendants of Luther and Dora Stockton held their annual reunion at the Darlington Heights Fire House on Saturday Aug. 7 . They came from parts of Virginia and North Carolina. Those in attendance were: Richard and Margaret Stockton; Lon and Mary Jo Stockton and Sean; Jim and Bobbie Lee Collins; Harold Higgins and Wanda Nash; Danny and Gerri Newcomb; J.W. Higgins; Matt and Holly Higgins; Rhonda Rowland; Mike and Iva Sizemore; Greg and Barbara Harris; and Cameron Shelton, Jr., Caitlyn and Maggie Shelton.

Frances Southall and daughter, Cindy, visited the lovely home of Mary Dowdy, of Elam, Aug. 7. Mary's daughter, Pat, and son, Vinnie, are the builders, designers, decorators and landscapers of the most detailed and beautiful doll-houses of different styles from Victorian to log cabin.

The descendants of Rosser and Mary Fulcher held their family reunion Aug. 8 at the Glenn Memorial Baptist Church at Prospect. The ten living children were present with their family members along with the family members of the deceased brother. A good time was had by all.

On Aug. 8, father and son, Adam and A.J. Southall, spent the day swimming at Buggs' Island. They had a great time.

Frances Southall has not been feeling well and may soon undergo surgery. Please keep Frances in your prayers.

Ray Kelsey is receiving therapy at the Moore Center, but his “Best Therapy” came when his grandchildren, Debra Sue and Darrell Shumaker, and Celena Rae Kelsey, came by to see him. We all know what a visit from a grandchild can do for us.

Mr. and Mrs. Mike (Kim) Shumaker, Debra Sue and Darrell spent their vacation at Myrtle Beach South Carolina. They are home now relaxing from their vacation.

Mr. and Mrs. Hardy and Celena Rae Kelsey vacationed in Williamsburg this past week. Mrs. Flora Bolt attended the wedding of Katie McLane and Chester Robertson on Saturday afternoon at the Farmville United Methodist Church and the reception at the Gee-Price Center at Fuqua School. Also attending were Mr. and Mrs. Kyle (Jeni) Bolt and Joshua. Joshua served as the ring bearer.

Mrs. Flora Bolt had lunch with Mr. and Mrs. Dale (Judy) Bolt on Sunday. They were joined by Jennifer Page Bolt, and Mr. and Mrs. Chris (Melissa) Bolt.

Sunday afternoon Mrs. Flora Bolt visited Ray Kelsey at the Moore Center as well as Peggy Kelsey who was visiting her husband. Ray is greatly missed by the church people of Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle. They are hoping he will soon be back with them.

The Prospect Happy Hats gathered at “Rock Branch” with Edith Vaughan for a “Salad Supper” on Aug. 10. Those were Margaret Stockton, Edith Vaughan, Betty Meadows, Hilda Allen, Edwina Covington, Ann Norton, Alice Campbell, Elsie Wilson, and Pat Smith.

John Ray Wilkerson is improving following his heart valve surgery.

Family, friends and neighbors are sending special get well wishes to all those who are sick at this time. Special prayers are needed for John Ray Wilkerson, Nellie Wilkerson, Ray Kelsey, Eloise Tucker, Mary Lula Allen and Ernest Campbell.

Neighbors and friends are expressing their sincere sympathy to those who have lost loved ones in the last week.

Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church at Tuggle invites everyone to Sunday School at 10 a.m. with worship at 11 a.m.. The Rev. Charles “Chuck” Klotzberger will be back at Appomattox P.E. Presbyterian Church this Sunday.

The membership of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church at Prospect invites you to come and worship with them every Sunday; Sunday School is at 10 a.m. with worship at 11 a.m. Aubrey Padgett will be at Davis Memorial on Sunday.

Calvary Chapel-Farmville invites you to worship with them on Sunday mornings at 10:30 a.m. Calvary Chapel-Farmville is located at 45 Simpson Rd in Prospect, two miles west of Dowdy's Corner just off of US 460.
