CUMBERLAND, Dec. 29 – James William Murphy, 66, of Cumberland, died Sunday, December 27, 2009. He was born April 17, 1943 in Buckingham County, the son of the late Archie Murphy and Minnie Gormus Murphy.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Webb Murphy; two daughters, Janet Jamerson and Cathy Shanks both of Dillwyn; three sisters, Lucy Jamerson of Dillwyn, Irene Rush of Buckingham, and Geraldine Shumaker of Dillwyn; three brothers, Jimmy Murphy of Richmond, Cleve Taylor Jr. of Buckingham, and Donald Murphy of Dillwyn; and four grandchildren; also, his Hope Center nurses, Jennifer Dunnavant, Rose Ingle, and Michalle Baird.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Cedar Baptist Church with interment in the church cemetery.

Family will receive friends Tuesday (tonight) from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Dunkum Funeral Home.
