To The Editor:

Every citizen is obliged to imagine how the resurgence of COVID will affect the election.

What will the logistics of a COVID election look like? Absentee ballots? Crowds of thousands coughing and waiting in lines outside of polling places? No election at all? A “hoax” election?

The elections of 2000 and 2016 showed us that even under normal circumstances we are unable to depend on the government to oversee one of our staple Democratic events. When you factor in Russian election hackers, which half of the country refuses to acknowledge, and COVID together, it is scary to think what may happen.

This is a scary time.

Even if absentee ballots are deemed acceptable will they all be counted? In Republican states will the urban area votes be counted? In Democratic states will rural votes be counted? Will there be recourse for voter suppression? Is there a mechanism to enforce or review the results of the election? For the second time in our history we must wonder if there will be an America left after election day.

If nothing drastic happens on election day, and the president loses will he cry hoax? Will the military be called in? Will the chiefs of staff and the generals support him or the people? And even if they choose the people, the president has enough of a base to start a civil war and make no mistake, this is the closest we have been to war since the election of 1860.

And this is the most mentally unstable man ever to occupy his office. He is a liar. He has betrayed every citizen of this country. He must be voted out, investigated thoroughly by real courts of law, tried for treason and punished accordingly.

Does anyone know the punishment for treason?
