Dear Editor,

Although I reside in another Congressional district in Virginia, I was quite surprised to see John McGuire challenge incumbent Bob Good in the 5th district.

I have followed the performance (i.e., votes) of members of Congress in the Freedom Index, which “rates members of Congress based on their adherence to constitutional principles of limited government, fiscal responsibility, national sovereignty, and a traditional foreign policy of avoiding foreign entanglements.”

Bob Good’s score is 98 (of 100). Only 6 of the 535 members of Congress have a higher score. That puts Bob Good in the top 1.1 percent!

Bob Good knows the Constitution and supports it in word and vote, like all legislators should be doing as they take their sworn oath to “support the Constitution of the United States.” Recently, I had the pleasure to meet Bob Good, and found him to be a man of his word, freely giving his position on any issue to someone like me, who he had just met.

As a citizen, I have encountered McGuire in the Virginia General Assembly and found him hesitant to state a firm position on a specific issue. The only thing he seems to be sure about is that he is pro-Trump. Well Bob Good is supporting Trump as well. But one has to do more and be better than that, and Bob Good has been doing that with his votes in support of the Constitution, whether they be yea and nay as appropriate.

My fervent hope is that the residents of the 5th district realize the special person that they have now and will re-elect Bob Good. America needs Bob Good!
