Hampden-Sydney is losing one of the college’s vice presidents in the weeks to go. Heather Krajewski, Vice President for College Advancement, will leave Hampden-Sydney later this summer to become Senior Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations at Bowdoin College.

During her six-year tenure at Hampden-Sydney, the College secured the Carpenter Foundation’s challenge grant, which added over $20 million in need-based financial aid resources to its endowment. Krajewski also helped with fundraising to complete the Pannill Center for Rhetoric and Communication, as well as help fund new endowed professorships and the Pauley Science Center, as well as support for Compass, the college’s experiential learning initiative.

Krajewski’s impact extends far beyond the College’s fundraising success. Hampden-Sydney officials say she has been instrumental in building an outstanding Advancement division; alumni, parents, and friends are more connected to the College because of her dedication to providing compelling opportunities for them to engage with Hampden-Sydney.

President Larry Stimpert commended Krajewski’s many contributions, saying, “Heather was attracted to Hampden-Sydney by its distinctiveness and potential. She’s played a fundamental role in our efforts to realize a much more ambitious future for the College. We are very grateful for the talented fundraising team she has recruited and built.”

Krajewski’s last day with Hampden-Sydney will be July 15. The College will immediately begin a national search to recruit a new Vice President for College Advancement.
