Letter to the Editor: We all need some rules at times

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Dear Editor,

Too many times, we let things just run wild, out of fear that someone might not support us if we say X or do Y. That’s especially true in politics. But it’s also why I feel I need to applaud when they do something right, even though some people won’t agree.

I read this week’s story on new rules for those who want to run an Airbnb or a campground or something like that here. Now, there is nothing wrong with either of those options. My wife and I have used Airbnbs a number of times while traveling. But at the same time, you need to have rules in place. You can’t just let folks do everything their heart desires. If we don’t set boundaries and guidelines, then in a very short amount of time, we’re gonna be over in front of these same supervisors, asking them to do something about a problem we all ignored.

That’s not the case here and I appreciate it. So thank you, Cumberland supervisors, for putting rules in place.
