Is Trump that forgetful?

To The Editor:

It would be difficult to tally the number of times President Trump has lied to the American people and the world. But you could easily say a few thousand lies have escaped his mouth since taking office.

His most recent lie is placing our servicemen and women in an unnecessary danger. In reference to the Russians officially using the Taliban as a proxy to kill our troops he stated, “Nobody briefed or told me, Pence or Chief of Staff Meadows about the so-called attacks on our troops in Afghanistan by the Russians.” He may not have been informed, the most unlikely of scenarios as he is the president. He may have forgotten that he was told, which is the scariest of possibilities. What else has he forgotten about our national security?

He may have been told and we can add this to the growing list of things which he “cannot remember,” a common occurrence when he is wrong or guilty, which include lifelong friends or people he has hired who are in prison for federal crimes.

He may have been told but then downplayed the credibility of the threat in order to maintain his good standing with Russia for his business dealings, the most likely scenario.

Which is it Mr. President? Are you that forgetful? Or do you command such minimal respect from your own hirelings that you are out of the informational loop? Or did you know and placed your business interests in front of those of your constituents again? This is not about politics. This is about the men and women who serve our country and the country itself being left out to dry to protect one man’s personal gains. If you vote for President Trump you are a traitor to this country and the principles of law.
