James Garfield Bryant Sr. age 96 of Cumberland, passed away on June 15.

He was born in Cumberland County and worked as a farmer and a butcher. He was a World War II Veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Stella Bryant.

He is survived by his daughter Alma Anderson (Harold), and a son Jimmy “Bean” Bryant (Verena); grandchildren Philip Sloane (Ginny), Scott Sloane, Amy McCormick (Daniel), Ernie Bryant (Stephanie) and Erica Bryant. Three great -grandchildren, eight great-great-grand children, a devoted nephew J.D. Black (Brenda), two devoted and special caregivers; Katie Scott and Tammy James.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 20 at 11:00 a.m. at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Cumberland.
