The Transportation and Mobility Planning Division (TMPD) of the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has worked with other model agencies to develop VTrans 2035, the commonwealth’s multi-modal long-range plan and a more detailed subset report known as the 2035 Surface Transportation Plan.
The highway element of the 2035 Surface Transportation Plan includes proposed improvements on Virginia’s federal functionally classified roadways. This regional long-range transportation plan is one piece of the 2035 plan. The CRC is currently updating our rural long range transportation plan (RLRTP) – the plan is expected to be completed by fall of 2020.
The CRC RLRTP addresses the anticipated impacts of population and employment growth on the transportation system. The RLRTP was developed as a vision plan, addressing all needs of the transportation system studied regardless of anticipated funding availability. It is envisioned that RLRTP will be used as a basis to identify transportation funding priorities.
The CRC, in conjunction with VDOT, has developed an interactive-online survey to better assist in the process of collecting input for the RLRTP development. The purpose of this plan, and survey, is to evaluate our rural transportation system and recommend a range of transportation improvements that best satisfy existing and future needs.
The CRC would appreciate your assistance in getting the word out to the citizens of our region to collect input. The interactive survey can be accessed at https:// crctransportationsurvey.metroquest. com/. We also have a link to this survey on our website at http:// www.virginiasheartland.org/2020/05/ crc-2045-rlrtp-interactive-online-survey/
The input received will help better assess the transportation needs of our region. The survey will close June 19.
