Buckingham County had 11 confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus as of Wednesday morning, April 8.

The Virginia Department of Health (VDH), which updates its website each morning at 9 a.m. with COVID-19 data for the commonwealth, showed the county as having nine cases as of Wednesday morning, April 8.

The website, however, bases its information off of numbers gathered before 5 p.m. the previous day. Buckingham County Administrator Rebecca Carter said her most up-to-date information placed the county at 11 confirmed cases of the virus as of Wednesday morning. Prince Edward has not seen an increase in cases since its third diagnosis of COVID-19 Saturday, April 4.

The VDH currently lists the number of coronavirus cases in Virginia as 3,645 out of a total of 30,645 people tested. The commonwealth has experienced 615 hospitalizations and 75 deaths as a result of the virus. Of the 75 deaths, 32 are from the Canterbury Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.
