Mary Lucille Parker departed this life on February 20. 2020 at her home in Hampden-Sydney, Virginia. She was born on August 10, 1925 in the Parish of Winn, Louisiana, the daughter of Willie and Alma Pearre.

While being a military spouse with her husband James in the Army, they were stationed in Texas, Pennsylvania, Washington D.C., North Carolina and Virginia.

Upon James’ retirement, they moved to Cumberland, Virginia and one year later moved to their residence in Hampden-Sydney, Virginia.

Mary, as she was known to family and friends, was an active member of the community. A volunteer at Prince Edward County Public Schools and also was a member of the First Baptist Church, Farmville.

She leaves to cherish precious memories, one son, Paul Parker, Sr. and his wife Lucy of McAlester, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Paul Jr. and Darron Parker; one great-grandchild, Melo James Parker and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Mary is going home to with her husband, James Parker; son, Derrick Parker; her mother, father, brothers and sisters.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 26, 2020, 1 p.m. at V.Y Scott Memorial Chapel Amelia, Virginia with interment in the Virginia Veterans Cemetery, Amelia.

V.Y. Scott Funeral Home, Amelia, Virginia, was in charge of professional services.
