The Church and Community Events calendar is published each Friday. Items must be submitted by 10 a.m. Monday for that Friday’s calendar. Events should be emailed to CommunityCalendar@ FarmvilleHerald.com.

FRIENDSHIP CAFES sponsored by Piedmont Senior Resources will be closed. Services for home-delivered meals and non-emergency transportation program clients will not be interrupted, as these services are essential to most of the older adults’ day-to-day functions.

ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS, that meets on Monday and Wednesdays at Farmville United Methodist Church will be suspended until April 6 at least, or until further notice. The group will be meeting via Zoom meetings on Monday and Wednesdays, newcomers are welcome to participate by calling Anna B. at (434) 480- 6778. You will need to download the free zoom app.

LCVA’S CABIN FILM SERIES, 7 p.m. presents Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

MARCH 21

ST. PATRICK’S DAY DANCE, hosted by the Cumberland Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary has been canceled.

MEETING, 10 a.m. of the Judith Randolph-Longwood Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution at Farmville Presbyterian Church. There will be an awards ceremony followed by a presentation from guest speaker Roma Morris, Director of Prince Edward Social Services. Topic of discussion will be “Empowering People”.

GOSPEL CONCERT, 4 p.m. hosted by the Kappa Rho Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority has been canceled.

SPAGHETTI SUPPER, at Prospect Fire House has been postponed.

BOOK SIGNING, 6-9 p.m. at Cumberland Elementary School with Bill Bean, star of Discovery channel’s “A Haunting”, author of Dark Force and Exorcist. Come and meet Bill and hear his story and get a copy of his book.

ASTRONOMY NIGHT, 7-9 p.m. at Twin Lakes State Park has been canceled.

28TH PASTORAL ANNIVERSARY, 11 a.m. at Jericho Baptist Church of Farmville has been canceled.

PASTOR’S 7th ANNIVERSARY, 3 p.m. at Baptist Union Baptist Church, Route 15N/Road 692, Dillwyn, for Pastor Timothy I. Jackson, Sr. and First Lady Wanda Jackson. The Rev. Keven Caleb, pastor of the Thessalonia Baptist Church, Bremo Bluff, will be the guest preacher, along with his ushers and congregation. The Maynard R. Jones Family Singers will render the music. The color scheme is brown and blue. Lunch will be served following the morning service. All are welcome.

MEET AND GREET, 11 a.m. at Monroe Baptist Church with Pastor-Elect Malvin Eanes. This will follow the regular 11 a.m. service. Members and families are welcome to attend.

MEETING, 11 a.m. of the Piedmont Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Directors in the conference room of the Prince Edward County Natural Resources and Agricultural Building located at 100 Dominion Drive, Farmville. The Education Committee will meet at 10 a.m. at the same location. The public is welcome.

SPRING REVIVAL, 7 p.m. at Mercy Seat Baptist Church. The Rev. Daniel Freeman from New Beginning Baptist Church, Lansing, Kansas, will be the guest speaker. All are welcome to attend.

MARCH 25-27

SPRING REVIVAL, 7:30 p.m. at St. Andrews Baptist Church of Cullen. Praise service begins at 7 p.m. Guest preacher will be the Rev. Lloyd Wesley, Sr, pastor of the Mt. Ellis Baptist Church, Keysville. There will be different choirs performing each night.

CAREGIVER SUPPORT GROUP, will not be meeting in April or May. However, an online Caregiver Support Group will meet via Zoom meeting every Thursday at 2 p.m. You have to download the Zoom App to your computer, tablet or cell phone to be able to connect with this meeting. VIETNAM VETERANS COMMEMORATION DAY, 2-4 p.m. at the Fireman’s Sports Arena to honor Vietnam-era Veterans and their families.

MISSIONARY DAY, 3 p.m. at Jericho Baptist Church has been canceled.

MARCH 31

SAFETALK TRAINING, 5-7:30 p.m. at Farmville Public Library. SafeTALK is a workshop that teaches participants how to identify persons with thoughts of suicide and connect them to suicide first aid resources. Registration is required and food will be served during the training.

APRLL 3-4

MUSICAL, 7 p.m. entitled “Legally Blonde” will be presented by Buckingham County High School’s drama students in the high school auditorium. Tickets will be sold at the door.

APRIL 4

PORTRAIT DRAWING WORKSHOP, at Central Virginia Arts with Marjorie Perrin has been canceled.

D-EGG-CATHALON EVENT, 1 p.m. at Maysville Baptist in Buckingham Courthouse. At this fun event children will compete on teams in 10 different field events including the Javelin Throw, Relay Races, Egg Balancing, etc. Children in K – sixth grade will participate in the field events while younger children ages 2 – pre-K can enjoy an egg hunt and a bounce house. APRIL 5

TIME CHANGE, for Sunday worship services at Deliverance Church of Christ, Gladstone, will be changed to 10:30 a.m. The first and third Sunday services are held at 3732 W. James Anderson Hwy., with the fourth Sundays being held at the Annex, 13046, W. James Anderson Hwy., across from the Buckingham County Court House. Pastor Winfred M. Jones welcomes everyone.

APRIL 8

SPRING REVIVAL, 7:30 p.m. nightly at Petersville Baptist Church, 3330 Petersville Church Road, New Canton. Different pastors, choirs and ushers each night. Everyone is welcome.

MASTER GARDENER PLANT SALE, 7:30 a.m.- noon in the parking lot of the Halifax Library on Main Street, Halifax. Several varieties will be for sale. If you want to guarantee you will succeed with succulents, pick up one of the painted “rock garden cactus”, which require no care at all on a desk or bookshelf.

HEART OF VIRGINIA FESTIVAL, coming the first weekend in May. Adam Paulek and Angela Bubash are the new CVA/HOV coordinators.
