MARCH 13

FIVE-MAN CHRISTIAN EMSEMBLE, 7 p.m. at Spring Creek Baptist Church, 918 Darlington Heights Road, Cullen. Performing will be The Ark Singers from Ukraine performing traditional and contemporary favorites. A love offering will be received. Refreshments will be served after the event.

MARCH 14

GARDEN TIPS AND TOPICS PROGRAM, 10 a.m. at the extension office in Buckingham hosted by the Heart of Virginia Master Gardeners. Harry Poulter from the Central Piedmont Master Naturalists (CPVMN) will be presenting on the topic of mycorrhizae.

KITE FLYING, 1 p.m. at Sailor’s Creek Battlefield. Construct a homemade kite while learning how kites have been used for centuries as a form of communication. The event is free to the public.

SWEETS IN THE STACKS FUNDRAISER, 4-6 p.m. hosted by the Cumberland County Public Library featuring live music, a variety of sweet and savory snacks served among the bookshelves, and the raffling off of a variety of donated gifts. Regular library services will not be available during the event. Visit the library’s website or Facebook page to find out more about this event.

BLUEGRASS/SOUP DINNER, 6 p.m. at Sharon Baptist Church in Buckingham to celebrate the grand opening of the new fellowship hall. The event is free. Everyone is welcome.

47TH ANNUAL GOSPEL CONCERT, 7 p.m. at Appomattox High School Auditorium hosted by the Appomattox Lions Club.

SPCA BOWLING TOURNAMENT, 2 p.m. at Main Street Lanes, Farmville to benefit the Southside SPCA. Go to southsidespcacoole@ gmail.com to register.

SHAMROCK STRING ART, 2:30 p.m. at Twin Lakes State Park. Art will be St. Patrick’s day theme.

4TH ANNIVERSARY, 3 p.m. of the Praise Dance Team of New Bethel at New Bethel Baptist Church, 14167 Farmville Road, Meherrin. There will be a guest choir singing and guest praise dancers in attendance. All are welcome.

98TH MISSIONARY ANNIVERSARY, 3 p.m. at Sharon Baptist Church. The Rev. Darlene Bland, First Lady of Mt. Pero Baptist Church will be the guest preacher accompanied by her choir and ushers. Sister Angela Edmond of Jericho Baptist Church will be the worship leader. Sharon Baptist is located on Plank Road in Cumberland. All are welcome.

USHER’S ANNIVERSARY, 3 p.m. at Mt. Ellis Baptist Church. Special guests will be the Glory Train of Kenbridge performing a One Act Play, along with the Antioch Baptist Church youth choir sharing songs of praise. The Ushers of the Antioch Baptist Church will be the host ushers. The church is located at 8409 George Washington Highway, Keysville. Everyone is welcome.

NAACP TO MEET, 6 p.m. at the SCOPE building, 505 Griffin Blvd., Farmville. All are welcome.

MARCH 17

JAZZ ENSEMBLE, 7:30 p.m. in the Jarman Auditorium at Longwood. Admission is free. Everyone is welcome.

TRANSITION FAIR, 5-6:30 p.m. at Prince Edward High School cafeteria to provide parents and children an opportunity to meet local agencies who provide transitional services to students with disabilities. LCVA’S CABIN FILM SERIES, 7 p.m. presents Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.

MARCH 21

ST. PATRICK’S DAY DANCE, 8 p.m.-midnight, hosted by the Cumberland Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary at the firehouse on Old Buckingham Road. Music provided by DJ Bob Huddleston. Ages 21 and older.

MEETING, 10 a.m. of the Judith Randolph-Longwood Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution at Farmville Presbyterian Church. There will be an awards ceremony followed by a presentation from guest speaker Roma Morris, Director of Prince Edward Social Services. Topic of discussion will be “Empowering People”.

GOSPEL CONCERT, 4 p.m. at Prince Edward County High School hosted by the Kappa Rho Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. Different groups will be performing. The master of ceremony will be the Rev. Dr. Cavell Phillips, assistant pastor of the Richmond Christian Center and the host of “The Beat” on 106.5. Everyone is welcome. The concert will benefit the Sorority’s Scholarship fund.

SPAGHETTI SUPPER, 5-7 p.m. hosted by the Prospect Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary at the firehouse. The meal will include spaghetti, salad, bread, drink and dessert. The cost is a donation at the door. Carryout will be available. Everyone is welcome.

MARCH 22

28TH PASTORAL ANNIVERSARY, 11 a.m. at Jericho Baptist Church of Farmville for the Rev. Dr. James H. Taylor, III & First Lady Olivdean Taylor. There will be no 8 a.m. service. The guest preacher will be the Rev. Dr. William “E.J” Johnson III, pastor of the Union Grove Baptist Church of South Chesterfield. A fellowship luncheon will be served. The guest preacher for the 3 p.m. service will be the Rev. Bryan Stevens, pastor of Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Powhatan accompanied by his choir ushers, and congregation. All are welcome.

PASTOR’S 7th ANNIVERSARY, 3 p.m. at Baptist Union Baptist Church, Route 15N/Road 692, Dillwyn, for Pastor Timothy I. Jackson, Sr. and First Lady Wanda Jackson. The Rev. Keven Caleb, pastor of the Thessalonia Baptist Church, Bremo Bluff, will be the guest preacher, along with his ushers and congregation. The Maynard R. Jones Family Singers will render the music. Lunch will be served following the morning service. All are welcome.

MARCH 22-25

SPRING REVIVAL, at Heritage Baptist Church, 700 Milnwood Road, Farmville Sunday at 11 a.m. and Monday through Wednesday at 7 p.m. with Evangelist Roger Roller as the guest speaker. There will be special music at each service. All are welcome.

MARCH 25-26

SPRING REVIVAL, 7 p.m. at Mercy Seat Baptist Church. The Rev. Daniel Freeman from New Beginning Baptist Church, Lansing, Kansas, will be the guest speaker. All are welcome to attend.

MARCH 25-27

SPRING REVIVAL, 7:30 p.m. at St. Andrews Baptist Church of Cullen. Praise service begins at 7 p.m. Guest preacher will be the Rev. Lloyd Wesley, Sr, pastor of the Mt. Ellis Baptist Church, Keysville. There will be different choirs each night.

MARCH 28

CHRISTIAN CONCERT, 6 p.m. at Sandy Creek Baptist Church, Jetersville, featuring Michael Wayne Smith. Admission is free. A love offering will be taken. Refreshments will be available.

MARCH 29

VIETNAM VETERANS COMMEMORATION DAY, 2-4 p.m. at the Fireman’s Sports Arena to honor Vietnam Era Veterans and their families.

MISSIONARY DAY, 3 p.m. at Jericho Baptist Church with guest preacher, the Rev. Ethyel Coleman, pastor of the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Midlothian, accompanied by his choir. All missionaries are asked to wear white if you so desire.

MARCH 31

SAFETALK TRAINING, 5-7:30 p.m. at Farmville Public Library. SafeTALK is a workshop that teaches participants how to identify persons with thoughts of suicide and connect them to suicide first aid resources. Registration is required and food will be served during the training.
