Tigers top Moravian, 6-3

Tigers senior Josh Duimstra had one hit and two RBIs, and classmate Andrew Kasiski had three hits and one RBI, to lead Hampden-Sydney College (H-SC) to a 6-3 non-conference baseball win against Moravian College Sunday afternoon, Feb. 23, at home.

Tigers sophomore Nick Graziano earned the pitching victory for the host Tigers against the visiting Greyhounds (1-2), while senior Bradford Webb gained the save.

Graziano (1-1) started on the mound for the Tigers and pitched the first 6.1 innings, scattering six hits and three runs, two earned, with six strikeouts and one walk. Senior Cameron Meyers tossed 1.2 scoreless innings, allowing no hits with one strikeout and two walks. Webb pitched the final shutout inning, yielding no hits with two strikeouts and no walks.

H-SC scored six runs on 15 hits, scoring two runs in the fifth inning, three runs in the decisive sixth and one run in the seventh. The Tigers trailed 3-0 through four innings before rallying back for the final three-run margin of victory to secure the weekend series win, as well. H-SC won the series 2-1.

The Tigers (4-3) host Southern Virginia University Wednesday, Feb. 26, at 3 p.m.
