The Third Thursday Book Club held its February meeting at the home of B. Williams.

The speaker was Brendan Burke of Amelia County. He served as Associate Director for Archaeology at St. Augustine Florida’s Lighthouse and Maritime Museum. He co-authored the book, “Shrimp Boat City,” an illustrated essay about St. Augustine’s history of commercial shrimping and the building of the shrimp boats.

The book documents the rise, growth and demise of the shrimp boat building industry in St. Augustine. The boats built in St. Augustine served almost every saltwater fishery in the world.
