Buckingham family’s death ruled accidental

A Buckingham family’s death has been ruled accidental after a house fire that took the lives of three last September.

According to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, Earl Booker, Colette Booker and 10-year-old Nayquarius Booker died due to smoke inhalation and thermal burns as a result of the fire.

The community is still grieving from the tragic loss of the family.

The Buckingham County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call at 4:54 a.m. the morning of Sept. 16, 2019, regarding a house fire in the 20300 block of James Anderson Highway. Officers arrived to find the home engulfed in flames and later discovered the three bodies inside the residence.

Virginia State Police is still investigating the exact cause of the fire.
