Prince Edward County High School’s varsity girls basketball team went 0-2 over the weekend in the Cumberland Holiday Classic hosted by Cumberland County High School, but the Lady Eagles ended their run in the tourney on a highly competitive note against William Campbell High School despite the loss of standout Ke’Mya Rux to injury. Rux was sidelined Saturday, Dec. 14, as Prince Edward took on the Lady Generals. The Lady Eagles had chances late to tie the game, but the shots would not fall, and William Campbell ended up with a 33-29 victory. Prince Edward fell 38-19 to Altavista Combined School on the first day of the tourney, Friday, Dec. 13. Four days prior, the Lady Eagles had hosted the Lady Colonels and defeated them 28-23. Prince Edward star DiNasia Scott, pictured above, played well in Cumberland and was named to the all-tournament team. The Lady Eagles (2-3) are set to host Halifax County High School on Wednesday, Dec. 18, at 7 p.m.
