Robert M. “Bobby” Jones announced his candidacy for the Locket District seat, District 201 on the Prince Edward County Board of Supervisors.
Jones has served since 2000 and has tried to vote to keep property taxes low while still providing the services that citizens need.
He grew up in Prince Edward County, attended Virginia Tech and got a degree in agriculture and returned to take over running the family dairy in 1981, which he has continued to operate.
He was asked to serve on the Prince Edward Planning Commission by Supervisor Jimmy Garnett in 1988, which created an interest in him to be involved in county government and, he said, is happy to still have a position on the commission board. He said it has been an honor to serve Lockett District in these two positions and he would like to ask the citizens for their support on Tuesday, Nov. 5.
