James “Roy” Wooten Sr., 83, of Chesterfield, departed this life on March 24, 2019. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Erma Wooten; brothers, Harry “Bud” and Raymond Wooten; sister, Mae Work; daughter, Sarah “Terry” Wooten; and grandson, Shayne Wooten. He is survived by his children, Donna and Jim Wooten; granddaughter, Nicole Wooten; brothers, Richard, Ralph and Danny Wooten; sisters, Ethel Glover and Ann Cox. Mr. Wooten was a Master Mason-Excelsior Masonic Lodge number 261, Charlotte, N.C.

A graveside ceremony will be held 2 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2019 in Chestnut Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, 2490 Chestnut Grove Church Road, Buckingham. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall.
