FBLA members attend leadership conference

Members of the Buckingham County High School Chapter (BCHS) of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) attended the 2019 FBLA Longwood Regional Spring Leadership Conference at Longwood University on March 12. Fourteen members competed in various real-world business knowledge and skills events and participated in workshops geared toward increasing leadership skills and business knowledge.

More than 200 members from the region attended the conference and competed in 66 events. Thirteen out of the 14 BCHS competitors placed with 12 members continuing to compete at the Virginia State Leadership Conference in April.

Sydney Mullins and Christyn Amos placed first in Banking and Financial at the regional level. They will represent BCHS and the Longwood Region at the Virginia State Leadership Conference. Mullins and Amos will also be competing in the Community Service Project Chapter Event at the state level.

Amil Bolden won third place at the regional level in Business Communications and will continue to the state level. Bolden will also compete in a chapter event at the state level for the Local Chapter Annual Business Report.

Cole Bohanon received first place for his program in Coding and Programming and will continue to the State Conference.

Rachel Bardon took first place in the Emerging Business Issues event at the regional level and will continue to the state level.

Buddy Terry, Jr. placed fourth at the Introduction to FBLA event and continues to the state level.

Zachary Jamerson placed fourth at the regional conference in Introduction to Technology.

Kimberleigh Bryan placed second in the Introduction to Public Speaking event, for freshmen and sophomores; and Nathan Brickhill placed second in the Public Speaking Event, for juniors and seniors.

Harleen Raj won second place in the Political Science event.

Tajhmir Gough placed first in the Public Service Announcement event and will represent BCHS and the Longwood Region at the state level.

Morgan Small placed won first place in the Sales Presentation event and will compete at the state level.

Colton Morris placed third in the Securities and Investments event and will continue to the state level.
